
The Bloomberg US Leveraged Loan Index (Ticker: LOAN) returned 0.96% in August and has gained an additional 0.28% through September 15, bringing its year-to-date return to 3.36%. This marks seven consecutive months of positive returns, with the August figure representing the largest monthly advance since April’s 1.18% return.
Average secondary market loan prices have increased over the last month, having risen to an average of 95.81 on September 14 from 95.05 on June 30.
Meanwhile, European leveraged loans have posted more modest gains. The Bloomberg European Leveraged Loan Index (Ticker: ELOAN) returned 0.56% in August and 0.14% month-to-date, bringing its year-to-date return to 2.71%.
