Private debt will continue the expansion of the past decade over the next five years. The asset class is expected to be the second fastest-growing asset classes, with AUM increasing at a CRGS of 11.4% over the next five years. Over the last ten years the total assets under management has risen 168%, from $315bn in 2010 to $845bn in 2019. Preqin predicts that private debt AUM will increase from $848bn as of 2020 to $1.4tn by the end of 2025. Despite this growth, private debt AUM will only be an 8% of the total alternatives AUM.
