Investors’ target allocations indicate bright fundraising future for private debt
Nearly every type of investor increased their target allocations to private debt over the past year, in part due to low real returns from public debt investments. Most investor types, with the exception of family offices and wealth managers, have current allocations far below target. Particularly larger institutional investors such as banks and investment banks, whose current allocation stands at 4.6% with target allocation hitting 13.0%, a gap of 8.4 percentage points, plan to pour more capital into private debt. Fundraising looks bright for private debt as investors work towards reaching their target allocations.
