While funds focusing on North America constitute 61% of total AUM, other regions have gradually expanded their share. This is particularly the case for Europe-focused AUM, which now makes up just under 30% of the total, up from just over a quarter five years ago. The rise in demand for European private debt has been aided by an extremely low-yield environment. Economic growth in Europe is largely dependent upon small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), most of which make up the bulk of lending opportunities.
