Europe plays catch up in global PD
Although North America-focused funds still constitute 61% of total private debt AUM globally, other regions are gradually expanding their share. Particularly in Europe, which made up 30% of global private debt AUM by June 2020. The region has seen its share of the global PD market consistently increase over the past 20 years, after starting from a low 6% of global AUM in 2000. Asia’s share on the other hand, has moved between the 8% it had in 2000 and its 7% share in 2020, while the Rest of World category saw its share fluctuate between 0% and 2%.
