As emerging markets continue to develop their private debt markets, they present both opportunities and risks for investors looking to tap into their growth. With regions such as India, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East among those targeted by fund managers in 2023, there is a clear desire for dealmaking. According to Preqin Pro, there has been a steady rise in deal volume. Between 2019 and 2022, deal volume grew from 32 to 42, while deal value fluctuated between $4.6bn on average to $6.1bn in that same period, peaking at $12.8bn in 2020.
